The name is two words put together: loop and tend. First the two words, then the idea behind them.
Loop is the cycle between an Agent and you
You hand an Agent the work, it runs for a while, then it comes back to you: for an approval, for a look at the result, or because it is stuck and needs a decision. You deal with it, it carries on. That round trip is one loop.
The more capable the Agent, the longer each loop; the more Agents you run at once, the more loops there are. Three windows are three loops, each turning on its own.
Tend is watching it and keeping it turning
To tend is to look after something: keep an eye on it and do not let it stop. The reasons a loop stops are all concrete. It is waiting for your approval and you do not know. The quota ran out and it did not say. It hit an error or lost the network and just sat there.
Tending is not deciding for it. It is making sure every stop is seen, so the loop can keep turning.
It comes from how the founder works
Tristan runs Claude Code and Codex side by side every day and spends more than two thousand dollars a month on AI. Rotating through several windows, one of them is always waiting for him and he does not know which. When an account runs out of quota he has to stop and switch. At the end of the week he cannot say what got done or what it cost.
Each vendor only shows its own, and nowhere shows all of them. looptend was first built for him: one place to see what every Agent is doing and which one is your turn; when an account is used up, the next session switches to one that still has quota; when the work is done, one press writes it up. It turned out everyone who runs several Agents at once hits the same three things.
It does not approve for you
looptend watches and calls, it never presses approve for you. Approvals change files, permissions and accounts, so that step stays with you. What it does is put the request in front of you, name the Agent and the session, and take you back there when you press “Open session”.
That is the difference between tending and taking over. looptend tends. It does not take over.
So, looptend
Every loop is visible, every stop gets you called, and only when it is your turn. The name is what the product does.
To see how it does this, look at the features section; to try it, download looptend.
